The California Gray Whales can be seen just beyond the reefs in the bay during their annual migration. |

A spacious guest room awaits you at Blanchard House, with a private entrance and balcony overlooking the ocean. Beyond the hand-crafted redwood entry door, you will find a king-size bed with a comforter, cable TV with VCR and CD player, an overstuffed chair, a sofa, and other amenities for your comfort. Brass and oak fixtures add to the feeling of a bygone era with all the comforts of the present day. A window facing north overlooks an open meadow, where grazing deer can often be seen. |
One of the real pleasures of staying at a bed and breakfast, is of course, the breakfast! Blanchard House is no exception; in fact, you barely need to get out of bed to enjoy it. It is delivered to your room each morning in a large basket, with a gentle knock at your door. Breakfast can be enjoyed inside your room at the table set with china, or out on your own deck at the table overlooking the ocean. There is always something piping hot for breakfast, and seasoned fresh fruit in season. All hot items are 'homemade' from scratch in our approved country kitchen. Much care goes into their preparation, and only the finest quality ingredients are used. Your hosts peruse the Mendocino Farmer's Markets for fresh and organically grown strawberries, melons, blueberries, and other seasonal delicacies from May through October. Coastal markets also carry much fresh produce throughout the rest of the year, and we buy organic produce whenever possible. |
The Blanchard House gardens are filled with many varieties of flowers, fragrant herbs and plants native to the area. The bird bath is a center piece of attraction for watching our fine feathered friends. Stroll down the path to the beach, or walk one of the many trails in the park, which include Fern Canyon and the Pygmy Forest. Golf and tennis are within walking distance.
