The Blanchard House Inn borders the 2,000-acre Van Damme State Park, the beach is an easy walk via the state park path.  The Village of Mendocino is an easy drive three minutes north.  Whales are sighted from November through March, and spotting their spouts from the guest room deck is always a highlight of anyone’s visit.  In-room binoculars are provided for a closer view. Throughout the year, seals, ospreys and pelicans can be sighted along this beautiful stretch of coastline. Enjoy activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, golf, hiking, bird watching and shopping.

Something is always blooming in our ever-changing flower gardens.  The fragrance of jasmine, iris and rosemary combined with the mist of the sea breeze, will create a lasting memory of simpler times. The rhododendrons bloom profusely from late March through May, and our extensive flower gardens are filled with many perennials native to the coastal area.
